HOW WE CAN HELP

As a Special Education Law Firm, focusing on NY cases, we work with children ages 3 through 21 at many different stages in their education.  Most families come to us when they feel that their special needs child has not been given the Free and Appropriate Public Education that they are entitled to.  Through each step of the way we assist families find appropriate private schools that meet all of the services and goals set out on the child's Individualized Education Program.  If the child does not have an Individualized Education Program, we help parents begin the process of establishing one through the Board of Education.  Finally, we help find the best suited private school with the special education services that your child needs, seeking reimbursement from the Board of Education for the tuition, and in some cases, related services costs.
INITIAL CONSULTATION

We invite all of our potential clients to come in and meet with us face to face for the initial consultation.  Before meeting, it is best that the parent provide us with documentation in order for us to better prepare for our meeting.  These documents include: Individualized Education Program (IEP) done by the Board of Education, any Evaluations done within the last few years,  as well as documents that you feel might help us better understand your child's needs.

A break down of documents to bring to the initial consultation:
  • INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM
  • NEURO-PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS
  • RELATED SERVICES DOCUMENTS (if your child requires speech or occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, aide, interpreters, or transportation).
  • FINAL NOTICE OF RECOMMENDATION (if the Department of Education provided one).
